The RIFM Database is the most comprehensive, worldwide source of toxicology data, literature and general information on fragrance and flavor raw materials. It currently contains over 43,000 references and more than 97,000 human health and environmental studies. In addition to human health and environmental studies, the Database contains basic material information such as: CAS numbers, synonyms, structures, molecular formulas and weights, physical properties and material relationships such as isomers and metabolites. Regulatory information such as EINECS, TSCA and DSL registrations, C/M/R classifications under the Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC), OSHA standards, Council of Europe listings, IARC status, FDA GRAS status and California/EPA listings are included, as well as, IFRA Standards, RIFM published monographs on fragrance raw materials, Group Summaries, Fragrance Material Reviews (FMRs) and FEMA interpretative summaries.
Sources of data include RIFM sponsored studies, member companies’ sponsored studies, government reports, and current literature. The amount and type of data that are available for each material depends on the number of studies that have been conducted for each material and the number of papers that have been published for each material.
RIFM operates its database with the full cooperation of the Flavor and Extracts Manufacturing Association (FEMA)—an active supporter of RIFM’s work in the industry. Access to the RIFM Database is by subscription and restricted to RIFM and FEMA members.
