If You Missed RIFM’s 44th Annual Meeting on February 9, 2010, You Can View Some of the Presentations Now RIFM's 44th Annual Meeting was a great success this year. Presentations ranged from risk management to aromachology to regulatory trends. If you couldn't make it, you can view some of the presentations on this site. Sorry we couldn't make all available. This year we had some presentations on highly proprietary research so if you didn't make it, you truly missed out.
The Role Of Population Modeling In Ecological Risk Assessment RIFM is sponsoring this workshop organized by Roskilde University in Roskilde, Denmark, August 23-25, 2009. The workshop is an outgrowth of the successful sediment program, sponsored by RIFM, that during the last three years has contributed substantially to our understanding of the fate and effects of fragrance materials in freshwater and estuarine sediments.
RIFM SEEKS CANDIDATE FOR POSTDOCTORAL SCIENTIST POSITION Designed to provide training in fragrance safety, the postdoctoral position imparts full knowledge of the industry. By the end of their tenure with RIFM, the candidate will be qualified to fill company positions in technical, safety and regulatory affairs. The position, during which the candidate is a full time RIFM employee, can vary from 12 to 24 months. Interested applicants should email their resume and cover letter to June Moncalieri, jmoncalieri@rifm.org.
RIFM People In The News RIFM's Environmental Program is expanding with the addition of Environmental Specialist, Ms. Aurelia Lapczynski.
Environmental Framework Model The RIFM/FEMA Database now offers subscribers the ability to screen materials following the methodology of the RIFM Framework.
POTENCY VALUES FROM THE LOCAL LYMPH NODE ASSAY: APPLICATION TO CLASSIFICATION, LABELING AND RISK ASSESSMENT* Dr. Anne Marie Api, RIFM VP of Human Health Sciences, was a member of this European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) LLNA Task Force.
Building on previous ECETOC work, the task force was started in mid 2007 with the remit to determine whether an EC31 potency value derived from the LLNA2 can be used to provide a cut-off criterion for the classification and labeling of both substances and preparations as a skin sensitiszer according to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and the Dangerous Substances and Dangerous Preparations Directives. If confirmed, develop sub-categories based on EC3 values. The task force will also evaluate the current use of LLNA data in risk assessment approaches for skin sensitization and propose a rationale for using concentration responses and corresponding no-effect concentrations by taking into account potency considerations.

Update on the U.S. EPA Design for the Environment (DfE) Screen for Fragrances For the past 18 months, RIFM staff, Drs. Anne Marie Api, Daniel T. Salvito and Madhuri Singal, participated as members of the expert, multi-stakeholder Fragrance Technical Committee that informed the development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Design for the Environemnt (DfE) Screen for Fragrances.
Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) at ESCD View two presentations on the Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) methodology that were given at the September 2006 meeting of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis (ESCD).
Indoor Air Quality - Apr 2004 RIFM Respiratory Safety Project: Indoor Air Quality
Over the past several decades there has been an increase in the use of fragranced products and awareness of odors. Some of this awareness focuses on public perception regarding the decrease in indoor air quality (IAQ).
